Missing button to open direct results as tabs?
As of this morning the button to open all direct results seems to have disappeared. Is that by design or, something on my end?
- My parameters are: Direct, Small area, Most Recent, bundle duplicates
- The button's position was just below "US RESULTS" shaded header - now I see no button, just the vertical feed of 'area links' for my search
- The button in question when pushed would open all the 'area links' at once as new tabs directly in CL
Behavior is same in Chrome & FF

Yes, we did need to remove that option. Recently we've gotten a number of reports that people have been temporarily blocked by craigslist after opening results links too quickly, such as by using that "open all" feature.
However, we also consolidated the results into fewer links by default, so you can now check the entire lower 48 states with just three links. (To get that, you would just need to switch the "group by" option back from Small Area to the new default, Large Area.)

This is a terrible change. It devalues the usefulness of the application. I also noticed a problem that the listing by area is displaying the same listings over and over. Please re-enable the open all button

The Craigslist blocking algorithm definitely tightened up a few months ago - national searches were dead in water you'd be blocked before you finished. I had to regionally cluster, then stagger search runs as a workaround using the old multi-tab direct mode approach.
New large area function built into site does seem to be a bit buggy at first try --- I'm not getting full results on my saved search strings (only ~60ish it should produce hundreds in a 1000m radius) and it doesn't seem to be passing a zipcode which may be the issue. The concept seems to work though, I tried "manually replicating" the approach and it seems to work. Only took a quick pass at it - if I can ascertain the exact reason it's buggy for me I'll reply here.
Thanks Nathan for staying on top of changes, continue to love this site.

@Steve The large areas do overlap a bit, so there will be a small amount of replication between them. If you're seeing a lot of replication though, it's likely because people are posting the same thing over and over.
@mikus yeah, searching nationwide with the small areas wasn't really possible anymore if you wanted to open them quickly. Thanks for letting us know about that issue though. Is the zip code the only difference between the searches we're generating and the ones you did manually? And did you use your zip code for each, or a separate one for each region?

Only difference seems to be zipcode. Here's a search string I used to test, it's set to mimic one of mine but any search will produce similar results:
(painting|"antique items"|"vintage items") -bananas -pickles -radiation -turbo -poutine -gym -oxygen -andrew
Run that in large area west. I get 85 hits. A dubious result. Now add Fresno's zipcode 93650 ---- 9249 hits which fits expectations
On related topic -- did you happen to check line distances to confirm the 3 large area points +1000m radius cover contiguous USA? Looks close at first blush but I think it may leave a few pockets if we graphed it, EG upper North Dakota area. Not sure anyone's missing Bismarck all that much, but worth a mention.

Thanks! We're on it.
And yes, we set the areas to cover all craigslist locations rather than necessarily all geographic area (in order to minimize overlap), but we could probably tweak it a bit to provide better coverage just in case.
